Working with DIVCO West on their new development, Cambridge Crossing, we were asked to address a difficult pedestrian transition from an adjacent academic campus, under a wide highway overpass, and onto the Cambridge Crossing green space. The artist Patrick Marold developed an innovative installation using small wind turbines on stems of copper clad shafts. LED lighting on each stem uses energy generated from the wind turbines, creating a beautifully lit nighttime path, with a subtle reassuring hum of the wind turbines as they spin. Our collaborators on the project are Michael Van Valkenburg and Associates.
